Beverly Lillian Kennedy (Age 71)

On Thursday, August 16, 2018. Beloved mother of sons, Timothy and Christopher Bradley, and daughter-in-law, Clare Collings-Bradley; sister of Ruby Vogler; grandmother of Conor and Amelia Bradley and Lily Hirsch-Bradley; aunt of Kenneth Vogler, Laurie Vogler Forté, and André Forté; great-aunt of Brianna and Caitlyn Forté. A Memorial Service will be celebrated at Collins Funeral Home, 500 University Boulevard West, Silver Spring, MD, on Tuesday, August 21, at 11 a.m. Interment held at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association.

MARY GRACE ROHDE  
“Grace” (Age 95)  

On Thursday, August 16, 2018, Grace Rohde passed away peacefully. She is survived by her sons, Marc and Paul Rohde, daughter-in-law, Sara and her beloved sister, Ruth. Grace was a devoted mother and a caring person to all. JEWEL L. PURVIS (Age 96)  

On Tuesday, February 13, 2018, of Frederick, MD. Beloved wife of the late Ralph A. Purvis, Sr.; mother of Donnette Campbell, Joseph Purvis, Sr. and the late Ralph A. Purvis, Jr.; sister of Claudia Brinson; grandmother of Kenny (Kim) Campbell, Regina (Kevin) O’Rourke, Kimberly Campbell Lubore, Jason Purvis and Joey Purvis. She is also survived by nine great-grandchildren and other loving family and friends. Inurnment at Arlington National Cemetery Columbarium on Thursday, September 6, 2018 at 1 p.m. Everyone attending, please meet at the administration building at 12:15 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of your choice.

Paul “Jocko” Nickolaus (Age 78)

On Thursday, August 16, 2018, Paul Nickolaus, passed away following a fall and a short hospitalization. A resident of Silver Spring, MD, he was a fiercely devoted husband, loving father and grandfather, loyal family member, friend, and mentor. The last few years of his life were spent caring for his wife, Mary Margaret, as she dealt with Alzheimer’s disease.
Born and raised in North Arlington, NJ, he graduated from Queen of Peace High School before becoming the first in his family to attend college enrolling at the Catholic University of America. It was at CUA that he met the love of his life, Mary Margaret Collins, and acquired his nickname, “Jocko”, both of which remained with him for the rest of his life.
Following graduation with a degree in civil engineering, he earned his P.E., and worked for several DC-area engineering firms before co-founding AMN Engineering and Columbia Engineering.
Jocko was active in the Knights of Columbus Council #2809 where he was a Past Grand Knight and participated in bowling and softball leagues, enjoying the company of good friends and family.
Jocko is survived by his wife of nearly 54 years, Mary Margaret, his son Mike, daughter-in-law Tracy and two grandsons, Peter and Joe, of Milwaukee, and daughter Sue and son-in-law Steve Felter of Silver Spring. He also enjoyed the company and love of an extended family of in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
A viewing will be held at Collins Funeral Home on Tuesday, August 21, from 2 – 4 p.m. and 7 -9 p.m. (500 University Blvd. West Silver Spring, MD 20901 Valet Parking). A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, August 22nd at St. Andrew the Apostle Catholic Church,11600 Kemp Mill Rd, Silver Spring, MD 20902 at 11 a.m. followed by his interment at Gate of Heaven Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Cure Alzheimer’s Fund (curealz.org).

Betty W. Lo (Age 76)

On Monday, August 13, 2018, of Forest Hills, NY.  Beloved wife of the late Jung-chung Lo ;  mother of  Steven E. Lo and Thomas E. Joseph Cook Reynolds (Age 89)

On Wednesday, August 15, 2018, of Rockville, MD. Beloved husband of the late Patricia Massing Reynolds; father of Kathleen A. Haber (James), Janet I. Matijkiw (Roman), Robert W. Reynolds (Katrina), Thomas P. Reynolds (Kathryn), Christine M. Shows (Richard), and the late Stephen J. Reynolds (the late Jonna); Also survived by 17 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and other loving family and friends.
